I finally bought it

I finally got a Nikon D90 last night.

I'd asked around for prices and Harvey Norman seemed to give the lowest price around with a 8 gb card thrown in ($1680).

However, when my sister and I reached there at 5.30pm, I soon realised that $1680 was just the basic price for the camera and kit lens. After a lot of struggles and another man buying the same stuff, I finally paid $1988 for the whole package, alongside with other freebies that I don't need, like the Sony printer and tripod. I thought the dry cabinet is great though. The only grouse I have about it is that it comes from Cathay Photo.

I don't really want to go down to the nitty gritty and recalculate if I've overpaid for the freebies. I think it's too late to change my mind and say the 'If only's now.

I like the sales guy who closed the deal with me. He's a very patient, professional salesperson. I would say he's the best salesperson I've ever met. The first time I went to the store last Sunday, for more than an hour, he educated me on the cameras and lens and tried very hard to teach me various stuff although I can't retain the information, obviously. And he recommended me a Nikon D60 for its lightweight and simple menu for the price of $988, when I'd gone to the shop asking for more expensive models.

When I go down last night, he again spent alot of time explaining to me, and waiting for me for make my decisions. He only closed the deal with me at about 9pm. I'm impressed with his service and that's one of the major reasons I bought it with him.

And he's only 24, a Sabah Malaysian, who aspires to open a camera shop and be one of the pioneers to sell digital cameras there. He said that the majority of the people there are still using film cameras. Unbelieveable huh?

He's leaving on the 13th this month, because he is hired by a customer who owns an interior design firm who was equally, if not more, impressed with his service.

Let's hope I am able to put the camera to good use.
