Day 2: Star Ferry

From Harbour City Shopping Mall, after we had our Honeymoon dessert, we walked to Tsim Sha Tsui Pier to take the Star Ferry, supposedly a very touristy thing to do.

We started walking there at about 7.30pm because we were hoping to catch the 7.55pm ferry so that we could watch the Symphony of Lights when it started at 8pm.
The routes of Star Ferry. We took the one from Tsim Sha Tsui to Wan Chai (and back) because it's 'not too far (Hung Hom-bound) and not too near (Central-bound)'.

The beautiful light-up at the Pier

The must-take night view. The real thing is indeed more beautiful, but it's just that - more beautiful.
There was a few entrances to the Star Ferry. We had to find the one that goes to Wan Chai.
What I took on the Ferry
No tripod, and the Ferry was bobbing in the water, so it made the mission impossible.

See the streaks of lights in the sky? That's Symphony of Lights. I was quite disappointed,"Huh? Like that only ah? Singapore also have what. No music some more. What 'Symphony'?"

Perhaps the Lights could be better appreciated if we went to Avenue of Stars. We abandoned that because it would entail more walking, which would tire my parents out.

We were supposed to be on the Upper Deck, but the board leading to the Ferry only served one deck, which was the deck we were on. So technically, Lower Deck was not accesible to passengers. Maybe they knew from experience that most people would want to sit at the Upper Deck so might as well just provide opening to the Upper.

A section of seats on the Star Ferry. You may sit anywhere you like.

My sister insisted on trying their ice-cream. "The locals are buying the ice-cream," she said. It tasted milkier than the Singapore version.
When we reached Wan Chai, we were asked to alight from the Ferry because the tickets were supposed to be one-way I think, but when the ferry conductor-like man wasn't looking, we continued to sit in the Ferry while the next horde of passengers going towards Tsim Sha Tsui flocked in, because we wouldn't know what to do at Wan Chai.
The Star Ferry tickets are cheap. It's free for senior citizens above 65, HK2.50 (S$0.45) for an adult and HK1.50 (S$0.30) for a child on weekdays. Weekends are just more expensive by a mere 10-cent.
Getting to Tsim Sha Tsui Star Ferry Pier:
1) Tsim Sha Tsui MTR
2) Walk towards the direction of Harbour City
3) The pier is right at the end of Harbour City
