Home Decor Survivor Finale

We lost - as expected.

Coco was very sad. She cried and had a hard time getting over it. I feel very bad about it. I've been really busy with Home Decor Survivor for the whole week and don't have time for her at all. And in the end, we lost despite the efforts, time and hard work put in.

The judges were impressed by the beautiful daybed chosen by Bryan Wong, with a romantic netting draped over it, and other DIY stuff he made to ecentuate the other furniture.

I knew that chances of winning are slim the moment I saw the furniture he chose at The Life Shop. They are all signature pieces, extremely eye-catching and highly aesthetic. I knew there's no fight, but we still had to put up a good fight.

But if anyone had looked at the furniture delivered by The Life Shop, he would agree with us that it's not worth getting. The dining table and coffee table are full of scratches on the surfaces, the cushion of the armchair has two stains, and the tv console is in a sad state - it ought to be scraped instead of being put up for sale: lots of cracklines, scotchtape marks, and the mark of the price tag can't even be removed, reason being it has been there for the longest time. We have good reasons to believe that they are display sets or something that have been in the warehouse for a long, long time, or even condemned goods that shouldn't be sold.

Our old furniture is definitely better than what they offer to give us if we had won. Like what my sister said, I would cry if we had won.

I've learnt so much from the filming of this reality show though. It's really an eye-opener and enriching experience. Firstly, it's not true that the second filming takes only 3 hours. It's only a form of gimmick. It takes as long as 8 hours. The judges actually waited until everything is ready.

Secondly, for something as short as 3 minutes on the tv, you can take up to 2 hours to prepare for it. For example, the bargaining.

Thirdly, everything is fake. Even the lines are fake. They are according to what the producer want you to say.

The furniture is still lying around in my living room, with lots of boxes in the blue room. The people from The Life Shop will only come around to collect them back on Monday.

I got to take pictures with Mark Lee, Jack ('Little Angel'), Bryan Wong and Lee Teng. :)

The greatest thing I've taken away from this show though is that I've learnt about how Mark Lee is really like. He's a humble person and very nice and friendly in person. Easy to talk to and doesn't put on air. And he did work very hard and put his best foot forward.
