Yes, we went to Australia Dairy Company again, for a quick breakfast before we headed to Disneyland.
Macaroni for William
3 sets of sandwiches for the girls and myself:
- egg sandwich
- egg with cheese sandwich
- egg and ham sandwich
We were there at 12pm
Ever seen the entrance fountain with nobody around in broad daylight?
We checked out the map and found a new ride at Tomorrowland:
Ant-Man & The Wasp: Nano Battle
It replaces Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters.
The rides are similar, with simulated shooting targets
After that, we proceeded to Iron Man Experience, a 4D simulation ride that makes kids believe that they are invincible helpers of Iron Man
The displays were so many that we started to think that perhaps that was all there was to it
4D graphics have improved tremendously.
I didn't see double or triple images on the screen for this one.
We skipped the Iron Man Tech Showcase as the crew at the entrance informed us that it was 'just a photo-taking' session
We picked up a fast pass at Hyperspace Mountain for each of the girls before going for my favourite ride at A Small World.
My favourite ride because I don't have to worry about my buckle loosening and me falling out of my seat at a height equivalent to 13 stories, and dying a tragic death after smashing my head repeatedly into the cascading, winding steel tracks and getting my body rammed or run over by the carriage that rockets down at lightning speed.
Delightful, soul-calming music that brings back childhood memories
Okay, I exaggerated.
At 3pm, we decided to watch Flights of Fantasy Parade on our way to the Mickey and Minnie Pavilion for our one-and-only picture at Disneyland.
Unbelievably, it rained!
By the time I emerged from a Disney store after an $80 purchase of umbrellas, I had only time to catch a glimpse of the last few carriages of the rainy parade which replaced the Flights of Fantasy Parade
And the whole parade lasted only 15 minutes
We thought it was a short queue since most people were not idiots like us, queueing up in the rain for a less-than-one-minute photoshoot but we ended up waiting for an hour before it was our turn.
Mickey and Minnie disappeared for half an hour just about 15 minutes into the photo-taking for some unexplained reason. A few at the end of the queue gave up waiting indefinitely but we couldn't as there were just a few people in front of us.
Look at how wet William was.
One of the most disappointing experiences we had at Disneyland.
We moved on to the ride at Mystic Manor at Mystic Point.
It shares the same storyline as The Sorcerer's Apprentice, a pet monkey who opened a magical trunk which would bring artefacts to life.
It was an enjoyable ride for me the previous two times but it got a little boring this time
I was a little hungry waiting for the girls while they went on a Parachute ride at Toy Story Land.
While at the Mystic Point Restaurant, we heard a teacher speaking in Standard Singapore English,"I don't care whether you are hungry. Everybody must eat. You don't eat, you don't step out of the restaurant."
It was a Singapore secondary school on their learning journey. I spoke to one of the girls sitting next to our table and learnt that they were sec three students from Commonwealth Secondary and that they were there for 4D3N for their learning journey to learn about housing development and culture.
Interestingly, they didn't have to fork out a cent as the trip was partly subsidised by their school and the rest was paid through their Edusave accounts.
Wet, wet, wet
I was just glad that it wasn't our first or second time at Disneyland or it would have been a very disappointing trip.
Coco wanted to take this but it was closed for the day as it was near 7pm.
Same for Slinky Dog.
William said that he had never been on Winnie the Pooh ride so we went for it, the last ride of the day at Fantasyland.
He seemed to enjoy it! The same ride required a fast pass at Tokyo Disneyland, okay!
A simple and safe ride that brings you through Pooh's story pages
After that, we went shopping at the Emporium
I wanted to buy a matching tee with William but these couple tees really highlighted the generation gap.
Coco remarked that these T-shirts were 'cheesy'.
I was shocked,"Don't you find them creative?"
She messaged her friend a picture of the T-shirts and the reply was 'Yucks!'
William saw the same tees and he went,"How about these for matching tees?"
I told him my earlier exchange with Coco and we decided to get another set.
Bye, Disney!
I think it would be a long time before I return.
A really pretty fountain
I always wonder why it is placed outside the Park
As it was late and we were tired, we returned to Jordan and what do you know?
We were back at Australia Dairy Co. again!
Coco missed her Yakun soft-boiled eggs. It was futile asking for it from the staff so we browsed through the menu and our eyes stopped at '滚水鲜蛋', literally translated as 'boiling water fresh egg'. I pointed at the words and looked knowingly at Coco. She nodded her head, so we placed an order for it.
Horror of horrors! "What's this?!!" we shrieked silently.
We ate our sandwiches and egg-milk pudding in amusement, and awkward silence, while the staff looked on. He was puzzled why we hadn't consumed the cup of egg-in-water immediately.
He walked away for a minute or two, and returned to give us instructions on how to drink it,"You must stir it to mix the egg with the water. Add sugar to it."
We went,"Orh ..." and continued to eat what was familiar to us.
He stepped aside.
Then he took it upon himself to stir the egg in the water,"It's like this. You mix the egg with the water. Now add sugar to it." Coco added sugar to the water.
"More! More! Ah, yes. Now you can drink it."
Coco was compelled to take a sip of the now pale-yellow solution.
"It's actually quite good," she obliged.
William had to consume most of the unfamiliar drink.
We were just about the last customers at the shop at 11pm.
I was back-facing the staff but William insisted that 15 to 20 of them were staring at us to pressure us to get lost. He resolved never to return to the shop for all the embarrassment and shame he had to bear.
