Followed

My Neverfull's strap is close to snapping and my Raspal is getting too old but I needed a bag to carry to work so I have been wearing my Speedy 20.

It's a crossbody so as usual, I swung my bag behind me as I walked back home from work.

Soon, I noticed that two dark-skinned younger guys were walking close behind me. I am not sure where they were from but they were speaking in a language that I never heard of. Not Tamil for sure.

I crossed the roads. They were behind me at a constantly equal, but close, distance.

I walked towards my place. They were still behind me.

I slowed down. They were still behind me.

I could have been overly suspicious but I stopped in my tracks. The path ahead was dimly lit and desolate. I started to worry that I could be robbed.

They surpassed me and walked further ahead. For a moment, I wondered if I was indeed mistaken.

But I wanted to play safe. If they meant to rob me, they could hide somewhere in front and pounce on me.

I waited and turned around, wondering if I should walk back to the traffic junction.

Then I saw a Chinese boy whom I later came to know was a Poly student.

I approached him and asked if he could walk with me to my place as I was worried about the two men who seemed to be following me.

The kind boy obliged.

As we walked in the direction of my place, I realised that the two men had stopped a short distance in front, outside a provision shop, and they seemed to be busy doing something that I couldn't see from my angle.

As we neared them, they walked into the provision shop. That confirmed my suspicion that they were following me indeed.

The Chinese boy continued to walk me to somewhere really near my place before I thanked him and assured him that I could walk back then.

After that, I quickly ran home.

I just hope that those two men did not follow me from afar and see where I live.
