Day 5 (30 Nov) in Norway: Catching Aurora Borealis on Lofoten Islands, Crossing over to Narvik

It was 1am. With the Aurora app that was downloaded, we were able to see that we had a good chance in catching the Aurora Borealis tonight.

The tour manager would alert us via Whatsapp by sending pictures of the Aurora that others had captured.

It lasted for quite a while. I sat a chair out there and took pictures using a tripod.

I only stopped taking pictures at 3am.

After that, we had to get ready for the next day's journey.

It was time for breakfast at 7am.
We were waiting for the coach at 7.15am.

The tour manager said that not many tour groups booked the seaside lodge. There were eight lodges altogether and they booked seven.

Bye, our lodge!

While waiting for the coach, in that short ten minutes, there was a sudden flurry of snow. Each time there was snow or rain, we were asked to cover our heads with our down jacket hoodie. According to the tour manager, this could protect us from falling sick. Seems to work.

It was the same place where we had our dinner the previous night.
Nothing out of the ordinary. Croissant, scrambled egg, bacon, cheese, smoked salmon ...
The tour manager asked us to alight from the bus to cross a bridge where we would take a picture of this beautiful representation of the fishing village, Nusfjord.

I recognised that it was the houses on the Lonely Planet's cover page!
I brightened the picture and put  saturation on full blast and this is what I get

At the other end of the bridge were mountains

Then we journeyed on to Reine for another photostop and lunch.

Where we had lunch

fish soup

Chicken

The meals were alternated with chicken and pork most of the time. My Indian tablemate and her mother were getting sick of the food. They started to take turns to eat Cup Noodles.
Pudding and raspberry ice-cream

The weather was clear before we entered the restaurant for our lunch. While having lunch, it was snow storming outside. Right before we finished our lunch, the storm disappeared as sudden as it came.
Taken by my mother!

Then we moved onto another hotel in Narvik at 9pm, 7 hours after we left our lunch place.

We were urged to finish our dinner ASAP so that the staff could knock off.
It was pork.

At 10pm, we gathered at the open area outside their skybar to catch the Aurora Borealis.
It wasn't spectacular so most of us left to rest for the night after a while.
